RESOURCE offers a variety of services to the community through our employment, training, chemical and mental health centers. Because of the variety of services we provide, we have a variety of different types of volunteer needs. Below you can find some of our current volunteer opportunities. Employment Action Center

Program Assistant
Volunteer needed to keep staff organized and able to provide quality services of clients. This involves filing, sorting, copying, data entry, composing documents, preparing workshop materials, and making phone calls. Weekdays during business hours. Minimum of 3 hours per week. This opportunity is in Roseville. Mid-day Front Desk opportunity also available in Saint Paul!!!

Childcare Attendant
Volunteer supervises small group of children while fathers participant in weekly group meeting to allow them to be better parents and help them achieve other goals in their life. Playground is an option during spring and summer for use with children. Small groups welcomed. Ongoing volunteers preferred.
Currently available: Tuesdays 6 to 8:30p in Minneapolis

Job Search Center Assistant
Assist staff in our job search centers to ensure each client is helped. May include assisting with resumes, cover letters, applications, job searches, basic computer skills, etc. Currently available locations: Saint Paul and Roseville from 9am to noon, & in afternoon from 1pm to 4pm. Brooklyn Center on Mondays also available. Preferred committment is once a week – however we are flexible and accomdating to professionals that would like to share their skills and knowledge.

Community Tech Center Assistant
Provide assistance to individuals in job search or educational preparation by assisting with resumes, cover letters, applications, job searches, and basic computer skills. Available: Minneapolis M-F from 8:30- 4 ~ 3 hours/week preferred, flexible

Job Leads Coordinator
This opportunity is a virtual opportunity meaning you can do it from home! It involves speaking with staff about the types of jobs their clients are looking for and then running job searches to put together job leads for the staff and clients of our St. Louis Park Adults and Welfare-to-Work employment programs. If needed, meetings will be held at the St. Louis Park location.

Playground Attendant
We are looking for volunteers to monitor and supervise our playground during business hours to allow children to use equipment while parent(s) meet with their employment counselor. Great for small groups, pairs, or individuals.

Mock Interviewers
Conduct practice interviews for participants enrolled in job search workshops. With the help of these interviews participants often gain the confidence needed to land the job they want! Volunteers are notified when mock interviews are needed and can accept based on schedule. Next Scheduled Occurance: May 29 9:30-11:30a in St Paul


Minnesota Resource Center

Lab Assistant
Are you good with computers and like to help others? Assist MRC training staff ensure that students receive the attention needed to allow them to succeed. Usually available during business hours, computer and microsoft office knowledge assessment required before service.

Work Readiness Session Facilitator
Help us improve our students’ chance for success. Meet with students and participants to train and/or discuss topics related to successful employment – ex. employer expectations, mock interviewing,etc. Opportunity available during business hours.

Job Club Speaker
Is your business hiring? Meet with participants to discuss your company and/or specific opprotunities. We may have the qualified applicants you are looking for in our training programs!

Become a Business Partner!
The Business Councils consist of individuals from business and industry who know the specific skill sets required for employment within a variety of career areas. Members assist with a number of tasks including developing or modifying training and education programs; hiring program participants; facilitating work readiness training sessions; acting as MRC’s liaison within their company; and introducing MRC staff to new trends. Members are expected to attend three out of the four quarterly meetings annually and to participate in a minimum of two other activities annually.


Recovery Resource Center

Children’s Activities Assistant
We are looking for volunteers to interact with the children of our Mothers Achieving Recovery for Family Unity program. This includes play, crafts, games, reading, homework help, etc. Children in program range from infant to high school aged. help also neede on Family Night to assist staff guide mothers and kids through planned activity. Current openings on Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30 to 6:30p – summer program times will change to 2:30-5:30p.

Skilled Laborer
Do you want to give back and wonder how you can? Are you a person with experience in a skilled trade (plumbing, electrician, carpentry,...)? You are urged to apply, RRC is always in need of volunteers in these trades to assist in upkeep and improvements in their transitional housing properties.

Employment Opportunity Speakers
Our clients have a wide variety of employment history and just need an employer to believe in them and give them a second chance. Speak to clients to are job seeking about career/jobs at your company, possbily recruit from clients if qualified.

Health Fair: Assessing Risk
Screener for health fair(s) needed. Will complete hepatitis, HIV, and chemical health screenings for participants attending health fair. Screening contains series of questions regarding individuals general information and health and lifestyle information. Upcoming Dates: May 27, June 24, July 22

Health Fair: Nursing
Are you a LPN looking to get more experience or an LPN or RN with a flexible schedule? Nurse to administer twinrix vaccines (heptatis A & B) Must be LPN or RN. Will be Supervising RN present. Must provide copy of license before volunteering. Upcoming Dates: May 27, June 24, July 22 ** Nursing students do not qualify for volunteer nurse opportunity and are asked to volunteer as risk assessors.**


Spectrum Community Mental Health

Front Desk Greeter
Greet members and alert staff to appointment arrivals. Other small clerical duties may be assigned. Needed 9 to noon on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays in Bloomington.

Van Driver
Love to drive big vehicles? Like talking to people? Transport members from home to our site in organization’s van. Socialize with member on-site (games,cards, pool, ping-pong, etc). Transport members from site to home. Needed in Crystal and Bloomington – days and times needed vary by location. Committment of a 4- 5 hour shift at least two times per month.

Do you have a skills or talent to share?
Have a talent you want to share? Are you an artist and would like to share your medium type with us? Do you just wish to interact with our members during open hours? Contact us for schedules for our Crystal, Minneapolis, or Bloomington Community Support Programs. We will get you connected with the best location and program to share your talent.

Interact and Socialize
Interact with members during open hours to help gain confidence and build community— UMN and Normandale students enrolled in psych courses- if you are a student at a different school you may inquiry, availability not guaranteed. Must commit to full semester.


Looking for Group Opportunities?

In our Tranisitional Housing…
Can accomodate groups of 2 – 20 volunteers. Works better during regular business hours. Opportunity availability based on program need. Openings not always available.

At Family Night…
Groups no larger than 8 – 10 people can volunteer to plan and lead a family-friendly activity with our mothers and their children. Thursdays 3:30p-6:30 p

Prepare birthday bags
Help a child or multiple children in our family housing to celebrate a birthday by assembling birthday bags. Volunteers purchase items, assemble bags, and deliver them to our location. Planning a birthday party may also be available… Bags include: small gift, cake mix,frosting,balloons, candles, kool aid, & Candy.

At Health Fair…
Small groups of 4 or less can volunteer at a monthly health fair. For more information on health fair see RRC listings.

Service-Learning
Volunteering for class credit.
Service-Learning and other students volunteering for school credit are welcome (18+). Volunteer coordinator will work with you and your school to make sure your requirements are met.
NEW
Service learners now have an opportunity to reflect online while connecting with other student volunteers and volunteer program staff. Depending on which college you are doing service-learning through visiting and reflecting online once may be required. But all service-learners are encouraged to visit at least once.

Individuals under 18 must have their parent or guardian complete specific paperwork with our agency and volunteer coordinator must get prior approval from program individual is interested in volunteering with.
