RESOURCE achieved certification as a Service Enterprise organization by Points of Light Foundation, one of the world’s leading volunteer organizations. RESOURCE offers hundreds of meaningful opportunities that match a wide range of volunteers’ interests and skills. This designation affirms that volunteers will find professional, skills-based opportunities to make long-lasting changes in their communities.
“Volunteers have always been crucial to helping us achieve our mission,” shared Kelly Matter, RESOURCE president & CEO. “We’ve added a formal, skills-based level of engagement and strengthened the volunteer experience by becoming a Service Enterprise.”
Research conducted by TCC Group and Deloitte demonstrates that nonprofits operating as Service Enterprises outperform peer organizations on all measures of organizational capacity. Not only do they lead and manage their organizations better, they are also significantly more adaptable, sustainable and better resourced to do their work.
At RESOURCE each year, approximately 1,500 volunteers donate their time and talents. In 2014, volunteers provided 26,385 hours of service – a $655,140 estimated value, according to the Independent Sector and its estimated value of volunteer time of $24.83/hour. This investment enables RESOURCE to maximize its dollars for its services and programs!
The Service Enterprise designation confirms that an organization’s skills-based volunteer opportunities demonstrate excellence in areas like leadership support, resource allocation, and effective training. RESOURCE is one of 13 non-profit organizations in Minnesota that are Service Enterprises.
