GRANT WRITER

Full-Time

Program: Employment Action Center Administration
Location: EAC Central, 900 20th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN

POSITION SUMMARY: Develop professional competitive requests and proposals for funding of Employment Action Center programs according to specifications and timelines of funding sources.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Write requests and proposals for public and private funding of EAC programs as assigned by Development Director.
2. Complete proposals within required time frames.
3. Conduct research to prepare proposals and identify funding opportunities for EAC.
4. Obtain information from funding sources regarding proposal specifications.
5. Coordinate proposal development and plans with EAC staff.
6. Positively represent EAC and RESOURCE to public, foundation and corporate funding partners.
7. Attend and participate in meetings with funders as they review proposals.
8. Write acknowledgment letters to funders for grants received.
9. Maintain database of funding requests.
10. Write reports and/or provide assistance to EAC managers to write reports to ensure timely and thorough submission of reports to funders.
11. Actively participate in agency mission, plans and activities to undo racism and promote diversity.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
2. Minimum two years experience preparing written requests for human services that resulted in funding.
3. Experience in employment and training preferred.
4. Knowledge of proposal research sources.
5. Knowledge of and able to apply marketing concepts to written requests.
6. Possess clear, concise writing style and skills in grammar and sentence structure.
7. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
8. Thorough, organized, detail oriented and meets deadlines.
9. Excellent planning, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills required. Must be able to develop multiple proposals simultaneously.
10. Must be flexible to develop different and suitable proposals about varied EAC programs to a variety of funders, including public and private sectors.
11. Skilled in the Internet for research purposes and Microsoft Word for word processing, including excellent formatting skills.
12. Self motivated and excellent initiative to secure funding for EAC programs.
13. Access to transportation for meetings at a variety of sites in the metro area.

SALARY RANGE: DOQ

BENEFITS INCLUDE: 3 weeks vacation, 10 sick days, 10 holidays, medical, dental, life and LTD insurance, and 401(k). Free parking.
