Career Strategies for Men Program
Career Strategies for Men is designed for men who are working but wanting a career change, students, just starting their work life and those who do not meet the requirements for funded programs.
With this fee-for-service program you can explore employment areas with an experienced counselor. Our counselors are unique because they have direct work experience in industry and understand industry’s employment needs and practices. They are seasoned career counselors who can assist you in the following areas:
Career Counseling: Our counselors will spend time listening to your plans, needs and concerns. With that information as a basis, we can help you on your career path and point out important considerations.
Assessment: Our counselors can administer career surveys such as the Strong Vocational and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator among others. This process is an important part of establishing a career goal.
Training: If you decide to obtain additional training, our counselors have detailed knowledge of training sources and can refer you to training organizations in your specific area.
Resume Preparation: When you are ready for job search, we will assist you in preparing a competitive resume, outstanding cover letters, marketing letters, and thank you letters. We will highlight your most marketable skills in these documents.
Job Search: We will explain current Internet search techniques, demonstrate methods to select your preferred industry, locate resources to define competitive pay for your background in the current market, examine how to establish and maintain useful contacts, familiarize you with other sources of information for the job search, and guide you in creating your personal job search strategy.
With CAREER STRATEGIES for MEN, you can start wherever you are in the employment process. You can use any number of hours you are comfortable with to reach your goal and even schedule later sessions to continue the process or review your career progress. This service is billed at $65 per hour and includes assessment materials.
