RESOURCEful People – (RBC Dain Rauscher Volunteers)

RBC Dain Rauscher employee Darla Kashian attended a “Discover RESOURCE Event” in October of 2006. At that event, she learned about Recovery Resource Center and the other centers within RESOURCE. From then on, Darla knew she wanted to get other members of the RBC Dain Rauscher team involved in the work of RRC.

Finally, this became reality when she heard about the need for a group of volunteers to repaint apartments in RRC’s Transitional Housing. Darla and Angie, another RBC Dain team member, began to organize a group of summer interns to take part in this team building and community involvement project. “The interns were so excited and had such a good time, they have been asking when we can do it again,” Angie says.

When asked what she felt was most valuable about the experience, Angie answered, “The most valuable thing was understanding what RESOURCE does for the community. We were given a tour of the building at the end of our day. It was very interesting to see the apartments and the opportunities they give to people in need and to learn that there are individuals here in Minneapolis that have those needs and organizations, like RESOURCE, that are able to provide services to those individuals.”
